Dear Mom & Dad
Welcome to Tigon Do joy
Oos!!
First, let me tell you about the word “karate”, a little.
Karate is a martial art that was originated from Japan and had been taught for hundreds of years.
Karate consists of two words: “KARA” which means “empty”, and “TE” which means “hand”.
So KARATE means empty hand! It means the art of fighting by just using hands (and without any weapons).
It was invented hundreds of years ago, so that ordinary citizens were able to defend themselves against sword of the Samurais who were mercenaries of the Emperor of Japan, by empty hands and based on the techniques, physical strength and power of mind.
All eastern martial arts carry a deep philosophy, and are targeted to cultivate the soul of the fighter rather his/her body.
“Curtsey” is the first rule in KARATE and teaching ethical principles are the first step in Tigon curriculum.
All these was told in order you to know that, to the contrary of the general beliefs, learning KARATE not only does NOT lead to your child becoming violent, but causes his/her spiritual growth along with improvement of his/her physical strength.
Now, let us point out the technical characteristics of the active play Karate;
KARATE such as many other sports doesn’t cover the whole motor skills. So, in order to improve children set of movements skills, we’ve combined the techniques with active plays, or in some cases exploited the hidden skills of different techniques and converted them to attractive plays that are suitable for kids over 5 years old.
It means our children are going to learn KARATE step by step and indirectly in form of active play, and therefore will practice the techniques without touch and battle. Moreover, they are going to learn other skills such as throwing, catching balls or shooting, along with the KARATE techniques.
To be honest, my own recommendation for the children is to practice eastern martial arts.
